Eucommia Bark

 

 

This is tree bark and is used to strengthen the kidneys and lower blood pressure in Chinese Herbal Remedies.  It is considered to be a kidney yang tonic, so it increases the ability of the kidneys to excrete excess fluids.

Chinese Medicine Indications:

Tonifies the liver and kidneys, strengthens the sinews and bones.

Aids in the smooth flow of Qi and blood.  Used to promote circulation, especially in those with weakness of the sinews and bones.

Calms the fetus. For cold deficient kidney patterns with bleeding during pregnancy.

Recently used for dizziness and lightheadedness (hypertension) from rising liver yang. (Rising liver yang sometimes has the same symptoms of high blood pressure, although most high blood pressure gives no symptoms)

This herb is used as a yang tonic.  A better choice of yang tonics for most people is cordyceps.
